It’s a selfie of me at my computer with a scene from one of Junji Ito’s horror mangas behind me.
This is both illustrative and dark self portrait. Couldn’t get help at the studio so when I couldn’t sleep I took selfies in front of my window at 6am with street lamps outside acting as lighting. The photos of course were noisy but I decided to have some fun with it.
I was assigned to take photos of anything purple I could find.
These are my photos in no particular order:
D: a mug handle
A: a clip
M: 5 band members positioned in an M formation from BottomLeft -> TopLeft -> center -> TopRight -> BottomRight
I: the first vertical thing I could find, a water bottle.
N: legs on a poster
This is my wood/clay/wire marionette. Her concept is my half-elf character from a Dungeons and Dragons campaign where she’s locked inside a prison for armed robbery and is trying to escape from said prison. I chose her for my design because I already had a design for her which saved time, especially since I couldn’t work on her for a week due to influenza.
I had some issues with sculpting the face, stringing her and her limbs kept falling off. I didn’t have enough money to buy cloth and not enough time to sculpt/bake clothes, so I used paper towels as a substitute. It works because as a prisoner, she’s not gonna be wearing Gucci and walking down a runway anytime soon. That’s also why I chose to not paint the face in a way that would make her look pretty. She doesn’t have colorful lips or outlined eyes because she’s in prison and not gonna doll herself up.
I originally intended to have her be completely blonde with slightly orange undertones but the orange was to strong and it made a cool look.
This is my Cafe. I added lights and artwork.
My style is Country and I made wit with brick walls, terra-cotta ceiling and wood floors. It has a stone chimney, wood tables/chairs and a leather couch. Country styled restaurants often have long tables since this type of culture is focused on community. I’m also planning on adding framed artwork on the walls. A lot of artwork considered country is usually landscape and native american based. This addition should give it a homier atmosphere.
I sewed the edges of the triangle so there’s more mobility. What makes it so creative is that. Everyone no idea what it is. I don’t even know what it is. the creativity is trying to find out what it is.I designed it to be simple triangular shapes and the color scheme is the gay rainbow plus the black head.My process could be described as having no idea what I’m doing and just doing what everyone else is doing basically. The modular design was two triangles look like kites and one has google eyes on it. The triangles unify the whole marionette by creating a rhythm with order and balance. The almost symmetry makes it proportional. The line of motion is a wavy one. Lots of jagged edges. Very colorful. The lack of limbs makes a large amount of white space. Also while I was drawing it, I thought “Henry” seemed like a suitable name, for any gender that it could be.
